Paris by Night Quai des Augustines
We fell in love with Paris. And especially while walking by the left bank at night by the River Seine, with the lights glistening on the water.

Le Chat – Homage to Monet
After numerous visits to the D’Orsay Museum in Paris the painting “La Pie” (The Magpie) remains one of my favorites by Claude Monet. I changed the subject to Le Chat (The Cat) as a homage to Monet and in honor of our cat Elliott.
The Bridge at Argenteuil – Homage to Monet
The D’Orsay Museum also displays the “The Bridge at Argenteuil” by Monet. This I remember from my youth as we had a print of this hanging in our living room.

The Siesta (After Millet)
Homage to Van Gogh’s The Siesta (which he completed as a compliment to Millet), also on display at the D’Orsay. One of my favorite Van Gogh’s to paint, with the vivid colors of blues and yellows / ochre.

Blue Table and Chairs
The iconic image of Greece is set of blue tables and chairs in beach tavernas. Personally I never found the chairs very comfortable!

Bruce Chatwin – Agios Nikolaos Church in Exohori, Outer Mani
We visited the church in Exohori, near Kardamyli, in the Peloponnese at which Patrick Leigh Fermor scattered the ashes of fellow writer Bruce Chatwin.

Olive Trees – Messenia
Olive Trees south of Kalamata are generally owned in small family plots (with owners marks on the trees). They are usually harvested by hand which is back-breaking work.
Old Man in Limeni
This elderly gentleman caught my eye as I sat in a restaurant in Limeni. As patrons, we all looked pleasingly at the water lapping in Itylo Bay, whereas he sat looking out the side window.

Olive Trees – Near Kardamyli
More Olive Trees, which I always find fun to paint especially with a light breeze blowing.

Entering Cinnamon Bay
Arriving for the first time at Cinnamon Bay on St John USVI is an unforgettable memory.

Man in the Shade on the Pier at St John USVI
Waiting for the ferry back to St Thomas, the porter waited in the only shade available on the jetty.
Relaxing at Cinnamon Bay St John USVI
Relaxing on Cinnamon Bay’s white sand was also memorable.

Ireland

Stone Walls in the West of Ireland
The stone walls and harsh landscape on Connemara in the West of Ireland makes you think of the hardship people endured.

The beauty of the landscape in Connemara is revealed once a glint of blue sky breaks through.
